Monty Brinson has spoken out in defense of his ex-wife Kim Richards, saying that people should know the facts before judging the 50-year-old reality TV star.

Brinson shared a throwback picture of him with the former child star on Instagram, and in a heartfelt post on Monday, Aug. 17, he wrote, "One day the people that didn't believe in you will tell everyone how they met you. That quote is in honor of @kimrichards11."

Brinson, who is battling cancer, revealed that he has not seen Richards but speaks to her every day.

"Do I know everything absolutely. Do I take up for my family and friends absolutely. Do I say it like it is. Absolutely," he continued.

He then told fans that "90 percent of what you read is completely false." He also thanked Richards' fans who have stood by her and reminded everyone that people will sometimes go through a rough patch one way or another.

"I always say know the facts before being judgmental," he added.

Brison's post came after Richards' arrest earlier this month for allegedly shoplifting from Target. Prior to the incident, the reality star completed a rehab stint in July after being arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel for public intoxication.

This isn't the first time that Brinson has defended his ex-wife. Earlier this month, he spoke with Entertainment Tonight after the alleged shoplifting incident was reported, saying that he couldn't imagine the Bravo star stealing anything and that "this must be some kind of mistake."

Richards and Brinson were married for three years before divorcing in 1988, but the former couple, who shares daughter Brooke, have remained close. In season 5 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," it was revealed that Brinson was living with Richards as she cared for him while he battled cancer. The pair appeared in public three weeks ago as Brinson accompanied his ex to the premiere of "Sharknado 3" in which she appears in a cameo.
