In the hype of the release of new smartphones in the market like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus discounts have been spotted.

U.S. retailer Best Buy throws in a generous gift card to buyers of the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The retailer offers the smartphones under Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint plans. Those who choose Sprint Easy Pay or Sprint Leasing Plan will receive a $200 gift card, while those who opt for the Verizon Edge or AT&T Next Plans will get a $150 gift card. The offer is available for all storage and color variants of the two smartphones.

The promo enables buyers to take home the handsets with no shell out. The total cost of the device is equally distributed on top of the monthly subscription fees. It is unknown until when the promo will last, but the gift card can be used in buying other items in the store.

Meanwhile, the sudden discounts to the 6-month old iPhones hint that their successor may be on its way. There are rumors claiming that a so-called iPhone 6S will be unveiled at Apple's March 9 Spring Forward event alongside the Apple Watch. Apple already sent out the invitations to the members of the press.

Although there is no confirmation from the tech giant whether or not it will present the rumored iPhone 6S at the event, tech enthusiasts continue to speculate on what could be inside the smartphone. Rumor has it that iPhone 6S has a 4-inch screen display, an A9 processor, a bigger 4 GB of RAM, iOS 9 with new features including support to Apple Watch, Car Play and improved TouchID fingerprint sensor, HealthKit and Apple Pay.
