iPhone 5s cases: Popslate to launch e-ink display case to double as second screen, e-reader [VIDEO, PHOTOS]

Popslate is planning to launch a brand new concept of iPhone cases in the form of an e-reader. The case will not only protect your prized smartphone device, but will also be a second screen similar to that of the wildly popular Kindle.

The screen on the iPhone case will use e-ink display, which uses very little energy. With its anti-glare screen and e-ink technology, readers would be able to comfortably view any content without worrying about battery drainage. It will also be easy to read in bright sunshine.

Not only can customers read books on the screen of the case, but the case will also connect to the main phone and mirror the main screen –meaning that notifications, photos and anything else on the main screen will be shown.

The case is currently available for pre-order on Popslate's website. It retails between $129 and $149.

This new case may be appealing for those who love to read.

Pages of a book can be turned by tapping the case. Like the Kindle, the Popslate only uses energy when a page is changed and the e-ink reloads.

According to Popslate, the case can also be used to save energy on the iPhone. Users can use its own screen to check information such as notifications, maps and notes on the calendar rather than using iPhone's screen which drains the battery with heavy usage.

Although Popslate cases are still in the stages of development, designers of Popslate are reportedly looking to make a larger version of the case for the iPad as well –not just for the iPhone 5 or iPhone 5S.
