iMac 2017 to have high-specification 'pro' options

This year, Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch the next-generation iMac that will have far better specifications compared to those in the previous installment. These specs are catered to a specific audience, reports say. The 2017 iMac is expected to make its debut later this year.

According to reports, the Cupertino tech giant is developing a better iMac, one that would cater to power users and professionals. More importantly, the upcoming device will be an even better option for consumers in the creative industry.

The 2017 iMac will come in two different size variants, a 21.5-inch and 27-inch model. Both units will come with high-specification or pro options. The alleged touch screen feature may not be included in the device's specs. The upcoming iMac will be powered by a Xeon E3-1285 processor. Not much has been said about the GPU, but according to Apple, it will be one of the latest discrete units.

Apple has also promised to produce an iMac with ECC RAM between 16 and 64 GB. To add, the device will be able to support up to 2 TB of NVMe SSE storage.

Apple has kept mum about its upcoming devices. Tech enthusiasts are even preparing for the discontinuation of a few gadget lines because of the lack of upgrades, updates, and information. But because the iMac is one of Apple's most successful lines, a next installment is imperative. Hence, many are confident that the tech giant will come up with a new installment.

The iMac 2017 is expected to launch sometime in the fourth quarter of 2017, prior to the launch of the Mac Pro.

Apple has yet to unveil the 2017 iMac; hence, tech junkies should treat the latest reports with a grain of salt.

More updates should roll out in the weeks to come.
