Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will be on a familiar soil when "Homeland" returns for season 6, based on the new poster and featurette released by Showtime for the upcoming season.
The poster showed the former CIA agent looking calm and composed with the silhouette of the US flag towering behind her.
For the upcoming season, Carrie will be seen back in the US after spending a year in Berlin in her efforts to start a new life with her daughter. But instead of having a peaceful existence, danger continued to haunt Carrie as she got involved in another terrorist incident when her new boss was almost killed by a terrorist group who was trying to target her.
After surviving the terrorist attack, Claire will be seen in Brooklyn, New York to begin a new job at a foundation that offers assistance to Muslims living in the US during the transition period after the presidential election.
The cast talks about the advantages of taking the story of "Homeland" season 6 back in the US after the plot of the previous seasons were set in various locations worldwide. According to Danes, shooting in her hometown gave her an added excitement for the upcoming season. Mandy Patinkin, on the other hand, claimed that New York possesses an electricity that makes it as one of the epicenters of the world.
Danes also revealed that period between the US presidential election and the inauguration of the president-elect will be the focus of "Homeland" season 6. "It's a really fascinating time, that transitional moment, and that president will heavily inform the character of the [CIA]," the actress stated in the featurette.
While Danes' character Carrie gets involved in helping the wrongfully accused Muslim people in the country, Patinkin's Saul Berenson will spend his time in the upcoming season to brief president-elect Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) about the CIA.
Showtime will air the premiere episode of "Homeland" season 6 on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017.
