'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' spoilers, release date updates: Marvel CEO confirms Stan Lee theory in MCU

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has hit theaters in the U.K. As usual, Marvel legend Stan Lee has made an appearance in the film. This time, however, is rather special. Marvel CEO Kevin Feige recently confirms a popular fan theory regarding Lee's cameos.

In the second installment of "Guardians of the Galaxy," Lee appears on a barren planet, speaking to an alien race known as the Watchers. In the scene, the comic-book writer brags about being a FedEx man before. To note, it is in "Captain America: Civil War" that Lee appears as a FedEx worker.

The latest revelation has led fans to speculate that there is more to Lee's cameos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the FedEx reference, one could infer that Lee plays the same character in all the Marvel films. Recently, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige confirms that this fan theory is true.

Speaking to the media during a press conference for the film, Feige shared, "Stan Lee clearly exists, you know, above and apart from the reality of all the films. So the notion that he could be sitting there on a cosmic pit stop during the jump gate sequence in Guardians was something very fun."

Although Feige confirms that Lee's character is a single entity in the MCU, he does not reveal the specifics. Feige has yet to reveal if Lee is indeed one of the Watchers.

From the looks of it, Marvel is gearing up to reveal his role. Perhaps the upcoming Marvel films will shed more light on this mystery. Lee has reportedly filmed his cameos for "Spider-Man: Homecoming," "Thor: Ragnarok," and "Avengers: Infinity War."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" premieres in the U.S. on May 5.

More updates should arrive in the weeks to come.
