HBO is teasing Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) fate in a new poster for "Game of Thrones" season 6. On Monday, Nov. 23, the show's official Twitter and Facebook accounts shared a photo of a Jon Snow. In the picture, Jon is standing upright and is looking down, and the left side of his nose and his lips are spattered with blood. The poster also features the words "April HBO," which confirms that the show will premiere its sixth season in April 2016.
Fans took to social media to rejoice as the image appeared to confirm that Jon is alive and well. One fan tweeted, "Hah! We knew it. Can't wait." Another wrote, "I'm like crying and laughing at the same time help." Since the poster was uploaded, the image has garnered more than 600,000 likes and over 260,000 shares on Facebook in a matter of hours, while it got over 50,000 likes and 71,000 retweets on the micro blogging site.
In the season five finale of the series, fans were horrified when it looked like Jon Snow met his demise after he was stabbed by members of the Night's Watch. Following the episode, Harington said in interviews that his character is dead, and this was also backed by the showrunners. Even President Barack Obama was concerned about Jon's fate as he asked director David Nutter if they really killed off the fan favorite.
Earlier this year, eagle-eyed fans spotted Harington in North Ireland where parts of season six were being filmed. Watchers on the Wall even posted some pictures of the actor and the website reported that Harington was filming scenes for the HBO show.
Meanwhile, "The Walking Dead" team reacted to the "Game of Thrones" poster in response to fans' complaints that the AMC show was being mean. Recently, the show revealed that one of their beloved characters, Glenn (Steven Yeun), is alive and has survived a zombie attack by crawling to a dumpster. It took the show several weeks to make the reveal, and on Monday, "TWD" retweeted the "Game of Thrones" poster and wrote, "And you guys thought we were torturing our fans."
Some fans cited the plot twist from "The Walking Dead" in their social media comments, and one Facebook follower wrote, "Hopefully, Jon Snow crawled under a dumpster too."
"Game of Thrones" returns in April 2016.
