"Freeman: Guerilla Warfare" is giving players a free rein on what to do in-game, as long as it involves warfare, as the latest first-person shooter (FPS) title to enter Steam early access offers a wide variety of options for its genre.

Developed and published by KK Game Studio, "Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare" is expected to have an eventual release date sometime in the near future after entering its early access phase on Steam. As such, the game is still incomplete but is very much playable, albeit requiring time and polish in order to iron out gameplay technical issues.

What sets "Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare" apart from other games in its genre is how it gives players the freedom to approach modern warfare. The game will incorporate elements from other genres of the industry such as real-time strategy (RTS) and roleplaying game (RPG) making for quite a significant amount of engaging activities to do in-game, and with the mix of multiple genres, players can assume that the FPS will require a certain level of creativity and resourcefulness to win.

The game is basically a sandbox FPS much like the "Mount and Blade" franchise but with guns and modern military tropes. This means that it allows for experimentation more so than other FPS games. "Freeman: Guerilla Warfare" lets players start out from scratch, getting dropped in the game world with almost nothing and will have to make money in order to acquire weapons, train their own recruits, build an army and do whatever they want with the game world, their progress and inventory will then be saved similar to RPGs.

Some of the options include looting villages, fighting bandits, attacking territories and so on. With the player being the leader of their own private army in-game, they will also have to plan the operations that their troops will be executing from a top-down perspective like an RTS, controlling every squad at their disposal to minimize casualties and maximize kills.

After all this, players are still given the freedom to join the firefights and contribute to their army's success hands on. "Freeman: Guerilla Warfare" has just entered early access and has no release date announced yet. The game is available only for the PC at the moment.
