After slowly but surely gathering enough popularity to warrant four seasons, "Fixer Upper" is currently facing difficulties right in the midst of their filming for season 5. With all the issues around the show, including a million-dollar lawsuit against "Fixer Upper" star Chip Gaines, rumors say that it might be cancelled.
According to KWTX, two former partners of Chip during the initial stages of forming the Magnolia Real Estate Company are suing him for fraud. Their claim was that the "Fixer Upper" star bought out his two partners when HGTV took the show in and still used the Magnolia brand name. In the midst of the conflict, Chip took to his Twitter account to fire back against the allegations:
"Fyi: Ive had the same cell # 15 yrs.. same email for 20 yrs. No one called or emailed? 4 years later 'friends' reach out via lawsuit.. hum," posted Chip. Currently, his former partners are proceeding with the lawsuit. When asked about the situation, Radar Online reports Chip's former partners John L. Lewis and Richard L. Clark along with their lawyer, David G. Tekell, insist that they did try to reach out to Chip. For now, they are currently waiting for "Fixer Upper" star to file their response in court so that the case can move forward.
While Chip is dealing with the lawsuit and its repercussions, his wife, "Fixer Upper" co-host Joanna Gaines, has had to answer questions regarding the rumored cancellation of the real estate show. Fans also thought that she will not be returning for the next season.
In a recent blog post titled "Don't Believe Everything You Read" on the official website of Magnolia Market, Joanna answered the concerns of the fans.
"And just in case you were wondering, YES! We are currently filming season 5 of the show. No! I am not getting into the business of facial creams. And No! We are not expecting baby #5. And no worries, believing some of these stories happens to the best of us," posted Joanna.
"Fixer Upper" is set to return later this year.
