'Final Fantasy XV' DLC roadmap news: Plan for expansions to extend until 2019

It appears "Final Fantasy XV" won't be finalized until 2019, as the developers have announced that they plan to introduce new content to the game until at least next year, maybe more depending on popularity.

Instead of three new episodes spanning throughout 2018, the executives of the game decided to push for more, making it four episodes in the form of downloadable contents (DLCs). This makes the content roadmap extend up until 2019; as for what each episode will contain remains to be seen.

This much was revealed by "Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata. He and game designer Takefumi Terada have confirmed that they are indeed working on four new episodes of the game, as revealed during an interview with Japanese Dengeki magazine.

There is a chance that more content past the fourth DLC will also be introduced, though this may just be the developers and publishers of the game keeping the options open in extending the lifespan of "Final Fantasy XV." This adds up to the already impressive DLC list of the game comprising of three initial episodes titled "Episode Gladiolus," "Episode Prompto" and "Episode Ignis."

All three mentioned episodes provided gameplay from a perspective that is not that of Noctis, the game's protagonists, and it is not yet clear who the next episodes will feature as their central characters. It was, however, revealed that Adryn would be featured in the next episode since it was titled "Episode Adryn." Meanwhile, the potential characters for the remaining DLCs could include Luna, Ravus and Aranea as their protagonists.

The said three initial episodes were part of the first season pass for the game, meaning the next four could be bundled together as a second season pass, which is a discounted DLC package for the game. Players who plan to purchase all the remaining DLCs for the game would be wise to purchase the season pass instead since it can save quite a considerable amount of money.

Regardless, "Final Fantasy XV" does have a very bright future ahead of it, fans are advised to stay tuned for release date announcements.
