'Fear the Walking Dead' news: Series gets season 4 renewal

AMC officially revealed that "Fear the Walking Dead" will return for season 4, while filming for season 3 is still underway.

Variety reports that "The Walking Dead" spin-off series will not only return for a fourth season, it will also have two new showrunners.

According to the report, both Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss from ABC's "Once Upon a Time" will now serve as co-showrunners for its fourth installment. The two will replace Dave Erickson, who will exit the show after season 3. Also, Scott M. Gimple, the executive producer of the parent series, will also become the executive producer of the spin-off.

"We're very excited to continue the journey of 'Fear The Walking Dead,' and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott Gimple," AMC and SundanceTV president of original programming Joel Stillerman said in a statement.

On the other hand, both upcoming showrunners released a statement to reveal their excitement for the show. "We are thrilled to be joining 'Fear The Walking Dead' and couldn't be more excited to work alongside the wonderful team at AMC on this show," Chambliss and Goldberg also stated. "We love this universe and are truly honored to have the chance to contribute to it."

Meanwhile, the synopsis of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 reveals that Madison (Kim Dickens) and Travis (Cliff Curtis) will be reconnected, while Madison's daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) still lives with the repercussion of her actions from the past. On the other hand, Alicia's brother Nick (Frank Dillane) and Luciana (Danay Garcia) continue to live away from his family.

Also, the third season of "Fear the Walking Dead" will show how Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) contemplates on how to move past the failures of the past.

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 will premiere on June 4, Sunday.
