AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead" has again killed one of its main characters. This time, episode 14, titled "El Matadero," led to the conclusion as to why Ofelia Salazar had been looking weak and sick.

Apparently, Ofelia, played by Mercedes Mason, had been bitten by one of the zombies, or what the show calls "walkers." In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mason revealed how she felt about the death of her character, who had been a regular since the first season.

Mason divulged that if not cut off from the show, Ofelia could have had a nice opportunity to be a member of a "killing duo" with dad, Daniel (Ruben Blades). She further stressed that a father-daughter tandem could be a game-changer as teams are often composed of lovers or friends.

In the series, Ofelia got the infection after being bitten by a zombie during an attempt to save the people from the ranch. In her last minutes as human, she and her dad finally had the chance to see each other, but ironically, he also had to put her out of her misery. The actress called her character's way of dying "beautiful."

The supposed awaited reunion of the father and daughter had become a sad scene. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Dave Erickson talked about Ofelia's fate, stating, "It's always about the ripple effect that it causes," Erickson said. This might be a hint of how Ofelia's demise might change Daniel for the better or worse.

This season has become full of surprises. Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis), one of the main cast members of the series, was thrown off the show by the second episode, which became one of the biggest shockers for this season. Fans were disappointed at how season 3 of the "Fear of the Walking Dead" had killed main stars, with Vanity Fair calling the death of Manawa as a "grave miscalculation."

The third season of "Fear the Walking Dead" airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
