It seems players of the "Fallout" franchise still prefer the desert wastelands of "Fallout: New Vegas" to the colorful nuclear winter of post-apocalyptic Boston in "Fallout 4." Recently, a mod which translates the assets of "New Vegas" to "Fallout 4's" newer game engine has seen great support and progress.
The Mojave wasteland's makeover is coming along nicely with a new showcase from the third-party developer showing the bells and whistles of the mod. The players will also start out in the in-game town of "Goodsprings," much like in the 2010 game.
Apart from the graphical update to the locale of New Vegas, the roleplaying game (RPG) elements of the said game have also been brought over. This replaces the perk system of "Fallout 4" to something a lot more organic and traditional as per the RPG standard in gaming.
To act as a moral compass for the players, the Karma system is also back, which a lot of players can note is absent in "Fallout 4." This system will reward players with good or bad Karma depending on their actions and can be used to determine who will interact with them or how they will be rewarded or seen in-game by the non-player characters (NPCs).
This mod brings a much-requested change after a lot of players were somewhat disappointed at the revisions of "Fallout 4" following "Fallout 3" and "Fallout: New Vegas." "New Vegas," meanwhile, was considered better than "Fallout 3," which came out on 2008, due to how close it was to the source material compared to the latest title. It was also not developed by "Skyrim" developer Bethesda but by Obsidian Entertainment, who are veterans of RPG games.
As for the mod, officially named "Fallout 4: New Vegas," the modders are taking it easy one step at a time and not targeting a specific release date in order to ensure the quality. This means that it might still be a while before players can finally have the best of both worlds, which is "New Vegas" with the graphics of "Fallout 4."
