'Empire' season 3 spoilers: Nia Long lands recurring role

Another critically acclaimed actress landed a recurring role in "Empire" season 3.

Award-winning actress Nia Long, known for her roles in "The Best Man" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," will portray the recurring role of a Las Vegas club owner named Giuliana.

According to the character description, Guiliana is willing to go to any length in order to secure a deal with Empire Entertainment. "Sleek, sexy, and cold-blooded, she rubs elbows with Lucious (Terrence Howard) and goes toe-to-toe with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) even as she reckons with her own mysterious past," the description posted on Young Voices stated.

Meanwhile, the Lyon family will be in another deep drama in the upcoming episode titled "What We May Be."

Based on the trailer for the episode, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will try to redeem himself after getting negative comments when he clammed up after being shot. As his plan of action, Jamal plans to make a music video using the home video clips of his mother, Cookie, with her sisters and their father. But Cookie will not like the idea, which makes her look like she is hiding something from her kids.

The trailer also showed that Cookie will try to host a dinner for her new boyfriend, Angelo Dubois (Taye Diggs), and his mother, Diana (Phylicia Rashad). But the dinner will not go as planned after the rest of the Lyons suddenly barged in.

The synopsis for the upcoming episode was posted on Gossip On This, which reads: "Cookie looks to Candace for tips on how to plan an elaborate family dinner that will impress Angelo's mother, Diane. Meanwhile, old home videos cause Cookie to face secrets about her relationship with her father that she had tried to hide from her kids, and Andre organizes an unlikely duet."

The episode will air on FOX on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
