Ellen Degeneres talks motherhood

Actress and comedian Ellen DeGeneres discussed parenthood during her "Today" show interview on Tuesday, and expressed an aversion towards motherhood.

The 57-year-old has been married to Portia de  Rossi for over six years, and neither has any children.

In October 2014, rumours swirled that the couple were expecting a child, but DeGeneres confirmed this week that there are still no babies in their future.

"I think I would [be a good parent], but that's not enough to have kids," she told "Today" host Matt Lauer.

"I love kids. But that's such a big commitment. And it seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don't know if I can - it's too risky."

In an interview published last year, de Rossi also questioned whether she wanted to be a mother.

"There comes some pressure in your mid-30s, and you think, 'Am I going to have kids so I don't miss out on something that other people really seem to love? Or is it that I really genuinely want to do this with my whole heart?'" she told US Magazine

"I didn't feel that my response was 'yes' to the latter. So, it's just going to be me and Ellen and no babies - but we're the best of friends and married life is blissful, it really is. I've never been happier than I am right now."

Although they don't plan on having children of their own, the Hollywood couple voiced opposition to negative comments made by fashion designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce of Dolce & Gabbana regarding gay adoption and in vitro fertilisation.

"It's not even worth commenting on because they're, you know, ignorant," DeGeneres told E! News at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday. She also announced that she would never wear the brand again, similar to Elton John who said he was boycotting the brand over their views.
