The leader of the free world, U.S. President Donald Trump, has hit a new low in terms of job approval ratings in the month of October.
According to the latest Fox News poll, Trump got a 38 percent job approval rating which went down four points from September. It was 41 percent back in August. Consequently 57 percent disapproved of his performance which included 49 percent who "strongly" disapproved. Some of the decline was attributed to white men without a college degree.
Around 56 percent of them approved of the president, however, it was down 10 percent from last month. Among white evangelical Christians, their approval of the president went from 74 percent last month to 66 percent in October. Trump was also hit hard by Independents as 30 percent approved of his job performance when 46 percent of them voted for him. Trump's White House Chief of Staff John Kelly bested him by garnering a 42 percent job approval rating.
News analysts speculated that the reason for the sudden drop may have been due to the hurricanes that pummeled the U.S. in those months. Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas while Irma left 103 people dead in Florida and the surrounding states. It is likely that the people surveyed did not take that challenging time too lightly. However, now that hurricane season is coming to a close, Trump's approval ratings might change for the better. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the president's performance ratings will see a positive change.
In related news, French President Emmanuel Macron surpassed President Trump as the world's most popular leader, according to a new poll. Macron received a 45 percent approval rating while Trump came in second with 37 percent. The poll was conducted and compiled by the Eurasia Group, a global consultant agency. Brazilian President Michel Temer garnered the lowest approval rating at only three percent. Temer's term will conclude in 2018.
