Nazis have also invaded some of the upcoming films in the 21st century, as "Cloverfield 4" has just wrapped up its filming and will include the racist and extremist faction in the movie.
Despite the third film in the franchise not having a release date or even a title, "Cloverfield 4" is already done with its production and is reportedly a World War II (WWII) thriller, which involves Nazis, naturally. The working title for "Cloverfield 4" is also discovered to be "Overlord," perhaps after the operational codename for one of the largest invasions in WWII involving the US and British invasion of Nazi-occupied France.
This is relatively a far cry from the space station setting of the yet-to-be-premiered "Cloverfield 3." Still, this does not mean that the title is shying away from "Cloverfield's" formula of escalating suspense and cosmic horror, as the synopsis has been released as well for the fourth movie and is quite familiar to the premise of the previous films in the franchise.
The official synopsis reads, "On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion's success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment." This means that the filmmakers are merely choosing another setting for their suspense-filled alien invasion movie.
Initially though, "Cloverfield 4" was not set up to take place in the same universe as the "Cloverfield" franchise, much like "Cloverfield 3," whose original title was "God Particle." Even so, some elements of the film or the storyline might have been tweaked to give indications that it takes place on the same universe as the previous movies now that it has been announced as part of the franchise.
No official release announcements have been stated by the production studios of the film, though the third movie is expected to arrive on April 20.
