CD Projekt RED news: Dev console support allegedly shames other companies

Update patch 1.60 for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" on the Xbox One X has been released bringing "4K Mode" and "Performance Mode." The Witcher 3 Official Site

CD Projekt RED is once again setting an example in the gaming industry, as the development company is now being praised for their exemplary support for their games on the PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) and the Xbox One X consoles.

According to WCCF Tech, owners and users of both high-end consoles have been enjoying the developer's enhancements for their games on the said platforms. This is because one of their games, "Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt," which has been ported to the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X, is fully utilizing the console's power to deliver pleasant gaming experiences and even better graphics, something which other developers might not have done correctly with their games.

The PS4 Pro version of the game now runs at a resolution of 3840x2160 or 4K with added features like enhanced Ambient Occlusion and Anisotropic Filtering, which is quite a feat for a console considering "The Witcher 3" is still one of the most graphically-demanding games two years after its release. Meanwhile, the Xbox One X version of the game pushes the console to its limit, making use of the expensive hardware it has available. It also runs at 4K but with the bonus of high-dynamic range (HDR), which is a first for "Witcher 3."

On both consoles, the demanding 4K resolution also manages to be stutter free at 30 frames per second (FPS) when used in the game. Again, this is quite a tall order for the developers given how limited the console hardware is.

In comparison, companies bigger than CD Projekt RED such as Rockstar Games and DICE, developers of "Grand
Theft Auto V (GTA V)" and "Battlefield 1," respectively, have not yet delivered on their promises of taking advantage of the improved consoles. "Battlefield 1," for example, only runs on a resolution of 1920x1080 or 1080p for the PS4 Pro. Meanwhile, Rockstar has not bothered with optimizing "GTA V" and its online mode for both consoles despite making billions out of them.

In the future, fans can expect CD Projekt RED's continued passion and hard work for their games, as they have yet to disappoint, and their upcoming game, "Cyberpunk 2077" may be no exception once it gets released sometime in the future.
