Dracula Vlad Ţepeş' life in Netflix has been prolonged, as "Castlevania" has been renewed for a second season. The vampire-themed animated series will have eight new episodes come summer.

Show writer Warren Ellis has confirmed this much and even took to Twitter to announce to fans the return of the series due to popular demand.

This is quite a reward for the loyal fans of the title and Netflix since the first season only had a limited four-episode run, with each episode only lasting as much as 30 minutes. Fans can assume that the second season will be a continuation of the events in the first, which is a straight adaptation of Konami's classic gaming franchise of the same name, particularly "Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse," focusing on the exploits of vampire hunter Trevor Belmont.

For those who have not played the games of the franchise, the Belmont clan is tasked with the protection of humanity every time Dracula wakes up from the grave or goes on a genocidal spree against humans for their offenses against him. As such, the franchise involved different generations of the Belmonts, and Trevor is one of them.

The second series is supposedly about Trevor's exploits as well, where he will be helping out a city besieged by an army of demonic forces lead by Dracula. Richard Armitage ("The Hobbit") will then lend his voice again for Trevor while Graham McTavish ("The Hobbit," "Rambo") will again be voicing a grieving and enraged Dracula.

It is not yet clear whether the second season will address the weakness of the first since a lot of viewers felt that it was more like a feature-length film chopped into four episodes. Ellis has claimed that the original script for the first season was actually for the first movie for a trilogy which he re-wrote. Season 2 will then allow him to tell the story completely despite it being intended for a trilogy.

No word is available yet on the release of "Castlevania" season 2, but fans should stay tuned to Netflix for announcements.
