Fans of "Castle" will be experiencing a Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) drought as not only did the show not air a new episode this week, but viewers will have to wait two more weeks before a new episode comes to ABC. This Monday, the network aired a repeat of season 7's "Once Upon a Time in the West," and on Nov. 2, the show will be pre-empted for "Countdown to the CMA Awards" special.

For now, "Castle" has not released a statement why it aired a repeat episode so early into the season, but it's possible that the series is letting fans relive a time when the couple clearly enjoyed being together and being married to each other. The show received some backlash after the first two episodes saw Beckett breaking up with Castle in order to protect him, and clearly, viewers were not happy about that.

But one thing that could mollify Caskett fans is the return of Alec Baldwin as Detective Slaughter in the show's upcoming episode titled "Cool Boys." Here is the official synopsis for the episode:

"Detective Slaughter (guest star Alec Baldwin) returns to enlist Castle's help in solving a high-stakes robbery case. But when a body is found linked to the crime, Slaughter becomes the number one suspect in the heist turned murder, while Castle has to determine whether he's guilty or help to prove his innocence."

New episodes will begin airing again following "Cool Boys," which could somehow take viewers' minds off Beckett and Castle's relationship for a moment as Castle and Slaughter take on a case.

Episode 7, "The Last Seduction," will air on Nov. 16, and the midseason finale titled "Mr. and Mrs. Castle" will air on Nov. 23. According to TVLine, episode 8 will be a significant one with regards to the couple's relationship.
