Country music artists Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have ended their marriage, but the two appear to be amicable as they went on Twitter last week to tweet playful messages to each other.
Shelton started the conversation by tweeting about their mutual friend, singer Ashley Monroe's new album. He wrote, "Hey @mirandalambert can u believe there's people who haven't bought @ashleymonroe new album? Isn't that shocking?"
Lambert replied three minutes later, writing, "@blakeshelton no I can't because it's the best work she has ever done! I love it!"
Shelton then retweeted his ex-wife's message and echoed her sentiments. Minutes later, Monroe also took to Twitter to thank them for their support.
While some were happy that the two seem to be getting along so well despite their recent split, some fans were not convinced of the Twitter message exchange, causing Shelton to hit back at claims that the lighthearted tweets were an orchestrated public relations move.
Twitter user @scottbrown assumed that the ex-couple's tweets were pre-set, and Shelton wrote, "Nope…not at all buddy."
Another chimed in, "@blakeshelton losing respect for this whole charade." In response, Shelton wrote: "Well rest assured not one [expletive] is given."
After their initial exchange, the two went on to continue their playful banter on the social media site. Lambert teased her ex about new paparazzi photos taken of Shelton pushing a baby stroller, and she posted the picture along with the message: "I knew it…you WERE pregnant! This calls for a drink!"
Shelton retweeted her message and wrote, "Ha!!! Busted… Drinking shall now begin."
In their official statement released to Us Weekly on Monday, July 20, the two said that this is not how they envisioned their future.
"It is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately," they said in the statement.
The country music couple finalized their divorce after four years of marriage. They do not have any children together.
