"Black Sails" returrned with Flint and his crew ready to wage war against anyone who stands in their way.

Meanwhile, Max had Anne persuade Jack to start rebuilding the fort after what happened in season 2. Also, a formidable new character appeared on the show as Blackbeard finally made his debut on the series.

Last week, Flint appeared to be more relentless than ever as his mental state continues to deteriorate. While at sea, Flint and his crew battled against the storm, and Flint almost impaled himself with his sword when he tied himself to the wheel. Many lives were lost during the storm, and Muldoon's drowning was the most emotional moment of the hour.

"Black Sails" gave a behind-the-scenes look for episode 2, and the actors talked about why the pirates decided to go out to sea, knowing that the storm could possibly kill them.

"At the beginning of season three, Captain Flint is in a sticky situation," said lead actor Toby Stephens.

Luke Arnold, who plays John Silver, explained why Flint decided to sail right into the middle of the storm, saying that it was the only way to avoid getting caught by those who wanted to capture them.

Executive producer Dan Shotz said that shooting the storm scene was one of the "most exciting things" that they have done this season and that they needed to create the same conditions that people will experience right in the middle of a stormy sea, making sure that it looked believable to the audience.

This week, the pirates will still be out in the middle of the sea. While dealing with their loss and a shortage of supplies, tempers will flare up, and Silver is pushed to the limit by Flint. Nassau will prepare to fight back against an invasion, while Vane will make a difficult choice to avoid defeat.

"Black Sails" airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. on Starz.
