Hot on the heels of the critical and commercial victory for "Battlefield 1," Electronic Arts (EA) has teased a successor, which is expected to be out next year.

On Tuesday, Oct 31, EA, publisher of "Battlefield 1," announced during its conference call with investors and analysts its plans for the next and upcoming "Battlefield" game. No official statement has been released regarding the name of the next game, but the executives of EA have pitched that it will be "visually-stunning" and "deeply immersive," much like "Battlefield 1."

EA's Chief Financial Officer, Blake Jorgensen has also confirmed that the upcoming game is still slated for the fiscal year 2019; this starts on Apr. 1, 2018 and ends on March 31, 2019. Despite the open-ended release date, the upcoming game is expected to be released on Fall 2018 like the previous "Battlefield" game. It is also set to compete with Activision's annual "Call of Duty" franchise. At the earliest though, the next game could be released on Apr. 2018, though this may be unlikely due to the shorter developmental time frame.

Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EA has stated that "We will add the next 'Battlefield' game, and move into the action genre with 'Anthem.' We expect our subscriber base to continue to grow, and for our new mobile titles to benefit from players looking for deeper experiences with higher production values."

This means that the latest action game from EA, called "Anthem," might get released alongside the next "Battlefield" game. That said, the former has started its development cycle much earlier, so it may have an earlier launch date.

Suggestions from Metro UK point out that the next "Battlefield" may be released in November since no "Battlefield" game has been released in any other month. Additionally, fans expecting a World War I follow-up from the next game might get disappointed, as Metro has also predicted that it could be "Bad Company 3" or some kind of return to modern-day warfare.

As mentioned above, no exact release dates have been revealed, but the game is set to be launched sometime during the financial year of 2019, which starts on Apr. 2018.
