'Avengers: Infinity War' plot news: Adolescent Groot in the Avengers

Baby Groot, which was perhaps the biggest selling point in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," has now gone through a growth spurt and will be featured alongside the Avengers in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War."

Marvel's upcoming mega-crossover between several superheroes will see the unification of all the individual characters from their own respective movies that were released in the past years. The legion of said superheroes will apparently be facing off against Thanos, the God of Death, and among them is the cute and rather verbally-challenged Groot, now a teenager.

Hollywood action star Vin Diesel will again be reprising his role as Groot in "Infinity War," though he'll only be saying one line again in varying pitches and tones throughout the entire movie: "I am Groot." The honor of teen Groot motion acting, however, goes to "Planet of the Apes" reboot trilogy motion actor Terry Notary. It is worth noting that fans can actually see a glimpse of teenage Groot during the credits scene of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

"I'm having a blast with it. It's really, really fun. I can't say too much about him, but he's coming of age, so you'll see the teenager find a mentor to look up to and to model himself after. The character's great, and the films are going to be great. We've got such an amazing cast and a great pair of directors at the helm. The Russos allow the actors to jam on scenes together to the point where it just feels great and everybody gets their moments," according to Notary.

This could mean that Groot may be looking up to some of the members of the Avengers as a father figure or an idol. Syfy even suggested that it could be Hulk, as the two share a penchant for destruction and being misunderstood. Nerdist, on the other hand, suggested Thor as a mentor for teenage Groot. Regardless, there's a big chance that Groot may not be looking up to any of his friends in the Guardians of the Galaxy for mentorship, as was shown in the credits scene.

"Avengers: Infinity War" arrives in theaters on May 4, 2018.
