In the midseason finale of "Arrow," fans rejoiced after Oliver (Stephen Amell) finally proposed to Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). But their joy was short-lived as the end of the episode saw Felicity in grave danger.

The episode started with Donna (Charlotte Ross) and Felicity finding Oliver's engagement ring in a box. Felicity confronted Oliver about it and asked him why he did not propose. Oliver said that he needed to rethink things because Star City has become increasingly dangerous with Damien Darhk's (Neal McDonough) arrival. But later, Oliver popped the question at a Christmas tree lighting, and Felicity said yes.

Damien kidnapped Felicity, Thea (Willa Holland), and Diggle (David Ramsey). Oliver proposed to take their place, but with Canary and Malcolm's help, Arrow was able to save the three. All appeared to be going well until hired men started shooting at Oliver and Felicity while they were in a limo. The episode ended with Felicity wounded and bleeding in Oliver's arms.

Since the season 4 premiere of the show featured a flash forward wherein Oliver and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) attended a funeral, there have been fears that a major character was going to be killed off in the show. And considering what happened to Felicity, fans thought that she might be the one who died.

For now, it is unclear who died, but Rickards confirmed that her character isn't doing so well right now. Speaking with Bello magazine via Just Jared Jr., the actress said that Felicity is "sincerely in danger."

"Felicity is right now completely not on this planet," Rickards told the magazine. "So, it's going to be a little bit of devastation, and it will be interesting on how it's dealt with."

The actress added that hopefully, the character's strength will prevail and keep her around.

Meanwhile, Moviepilot speculates that a different fate awaits the character when the show returns. According to the website, it's possible that Felicity will become the Oracle before the season finale.

Oracle is a DC Comic character who was tortured and shot by the Joker. She became a paraplegic cripple. In the comics, Oracle is a tech genius who works with Batman, Birds of Prey and the Justice League.

"Arrow" returns Jan. 20, 8/7c on The CW.
