It seems the Avenger civil war between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has had a lot more effects than anticipated on Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) a.k.a. Ant-Man, as the director of the upcoming movie "Ant-Man and The Wasp" has revealed how the infighting led to the storyline of the "Ant-Man" sequel.
Peyton Reed, director of "Ant-Man and The Wasp," has stated that "Captain America: Civil War" will not be the last time Lang will be having trouble, even promoting the potential fallout of the said event.
"The events of 'Captain America: Civil War' gave us something clear, which is: what was Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Hope Van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) reaction to Scott having taken this technology out into the world in 'Civil War?' We had a lot of fun playing around with that. And we play with size and scale a lot. I love the idea of Giant-Man," said Reed.
This could mean that Pym, the first Ant-Man and owner of the technology, was not informed of Lang's decision to go against Tony Stark's side in the civil war. The implications could either be dire for Lang, as he might have to face Pym's wrath or his actions could inspire something else entirely. "Giant-Man" which is the other capability of Ant-Man as was shown in "Civil War" could also be utilized a lot more in "Ant-Man and The Wasp."
Alongside Lang, Pym's daughter, Hope, will also be donning the high tech costume of "The Wasp," which has the same capability as Ant-Man's suit apart from flight. Website Bam Smack Pow also suggested that Pym could take away his suit from Lang due to the latter's irresponsibility, but since the movie has the "Ant-Man" name in its title, it may not be too long until Lang gains it back again.
The next movie may also explore something else which was discussed in the first. This may be in the form of Pym's wife Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the first Wasp who got stuck in the Quantum Realm because her shrinking device malfunctioned and kept her exponentially turning smaller. This could mean that something might have happened to her in the said realm and might have changed her.
More will be found out about "Ant-Man and The Wasp," once it hits the theatres in Jul. 6, 2018.
