The Moto 360 Gen 2 devices will soon get the Android Wear 2.0 update Motorola website

The long-wait for the rollout of the Android Wear 2.0 will soon be over, after Android confirmed that most wearable devices will be getting the operating system update in the coming weeks.

On Twitter, Android Wear announced that the second-generation Moto 360 as well as the Moto 360 Sport will both have the highly-anticipated Android Wear 2.0 rollout "in the next few weeks." However, the rollout will only be exclusive to the two latest Moto 360 wearable devices. This means that the first-generation Moto 360 will not receive the upcoming update.

However, aside from the two Moto 360 devices, Google listed down the names of smartwatches that already features the new wearable device operating system. This includes the LG Watch Sport, the LG Watch Urbane, the LG G Watch R, the LG Watch Style, the Fossil Q Founder, the Fossil Q Wander, the Fossil Q Marshal, the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch, the Tag Heuer Connected, the Polar M600, the Michael Kors ACCESS smartwatches, the Nixon Mission, the Huawei Watch 2, and the New Balance RunIQ.

On the other hand, wearable devices like the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, Huawei's Watch and Watch Ladies, and the Zenwatch 2 and Zenwatch 3 from ASUS will all get the Android Wear 2.0 update sometime during the end of April or the early days of May. However, the exact days were not revealed in the post.

The Moto 360 Gen 1 will not be the only smartwatch to be excluded from the update. According to reports, the LG G Watch, the Samsung Gear Live, the Asus ZenWatch version 1, and the Sony Smartwatch 3 will have to miss out on the new wearable device update rollout. It means that these smartwatches will have to continue running on the first version of the Android Wear OS.

More details about the rollout update of Android Wear 2.0 on most smartwatch brands are expected to be announced by Google in the coming days.
