Android 4.4.2 update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to finally roll out in April or May

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat mobile software update is expected to be released for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 by the end of this month or early May.

Samsung officially announced that the Android 4.4.2 update will be rolled to Galaxy Note 2 owners and several carriers had confirmed that the update will be rolled out to their customers. A company representative reportedly told customers that the KitKat software will be rolled out to South Korean customers in mid-April.

A listing for the South Korean variant of the Galaxy Note 2 with model number SHV-E250 was posted by GFXBench, suggesting, that the phone is indeed running on the latest Android OS.

Initial rumors hinted that a KitKat update will not be coming to the first and second generation Note and Note 2, so the news of a planned update is a relief to Note owners.

The second-generation Samsung phablet is currently running on last year's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is well overdue its software upate.

The model is a domestic South Korean model and does not apply to international models.

In Europe, French carrier SFR stated that customers should expect to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update at the end of May.

As for the U.S., no specific release date has been given, and the update is expected to arrive without warning.
