'American Horror Story' season 7 news, spoilers: Showrunner reveals season 7 monster

When FX's hit horror anthology series "American Horror Story" returns with an all-new season, viewers can expect to be spooked by a new monster. In season 7, the terrifying creature will have a political connotation.

Unlike the previous seasons' haunting characters, vampires, witches, ghosts, homicidal clowns, and more, season 7's monster will take a shot at America's present political scene. The monster takes the shape of an elephant to represent the Republican party's symbol.

For the uninitiated, "American Horror Story" season 7 will have an election-inspired theme, showrunner Ryan Murphy has previously revealed. More recently, the showrunner teased a sketch of the Republican party-inspired creature on his Instagram account. Although Murphy only teased the concept art for its monstrosity, the creature exudes terror, much like Twisty the clown.

As previously reported, Murphy made the announcement on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen." He told the host, "Well, I don't have a title, but the season that we begin shooting this June is going to be about the election that we just went through." He added, "I think that would be interesting for a lot of people."

So far, only Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have been cast in the upcoming installment of "American Horror Story." Since season 7 can easily be interpreted as a shot at Donald Trump's administration, Murphy has made it clear that Paulson will not be playing the role of Hillary Clinton. He admitted, "I think people literally think Sarah Paulson is playing Hillary Clinton, and I wanted to clarify that that is not true."

However, when asked if a character inspired by President Trump will appear on the show, Murphy neither confirmed nor denied. He only said "maybe."

"American Horror Story" season 7 premieres sometime this October.

More updates should arrive in the following months.
