In a few weeks, "Agent Carter" will be returning to ABC and will see Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) in Los Angeles for another season of adventure and intrigue. Ahead of the new season's premiere, the show released the full synopsis for the show, which gives fans an idea of what to expect from the series and Peggy's new mission in Hollywood.

According to the synopsis, Peggy travels from New York to Los Angeles for her most dangerous and bizarre assignment yet. Upon her arrival, Peggy is reunited with Jarvis (James D'Arcy), who tells her all about Hollywood life and sets her up at Howard Stark's (Dominic Cooper) mansion. There, Peggy meets Ana (Lotte Verbeek), Jarvis's wife, and the two women get along well.

East Coast SSR Chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) sends Peggy to work with Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj), who has just been promoted as West Coast SSR Chief, and the two investigate a strange homicide involving a body that glows and emanates cold. The investigation eventually leads Peggy to Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), a quirky and charming scientist, and sparks fly between the two of them.

The season's antagonists include Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett), a movie starlet who happens to be a brilliant physicist; Whitney's husband Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham), a politician who will do anything to get what he wants; and Peggy's old foe, Russian spy Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan), who will return to the agent's life in an unexpected way.

Based on the synopsis, Cinemablend has a theory as to who could be behind the bizarre crime. While Underwood will appear to be the most likely suspect, the website speculates that Frost could be the culprit as she alone has the scientific knowledge to pull off such a crime. It will be interesting to see how Peggy deals with a formidable new opponent as she adjusts to the bright lights of Hollywood in the upcoming season.

"Agent Carter" returns on Jan. 19 at 9/8c on ABC.
