Fans of the game "Age of Empires" are in for a bad news. Developers of the game had moved the release date of the promised remastered version of the game to an unspecified date in 2018.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the "Age of Empires," Microsoft earlier announced that they will be launching "Age of Empires: Definitive Edition," which is basically the original version of the game, only restored. It was initially slated for an Oct. 19, Thursday, release, but six days before the launch, the team behind the game said that it will be pushed back to "early 2018."

The developers cited the intricacy of the restoration as one of the factors for the delay. It reportedly will take longer to ensure that the classic keeps its original charm while still keeping up with modern changes. "At the same time, in a living, thriving genre, norms continually evolve, technology advances, and player expectations change," Microsoft added.

The team revealed that they will instead be inviting many players on Oct. 19 to test out the unreleased version between now and the release, gaining the developers access to insights on the game's technicalities.

The announcement of delay earned understanding from some of the players, while a lot of others expressed their disappointment. User KingDaBorja, in the comments section of the update, defended the postponement in the release and said, "Don't get so mad because the game got delayed in order to polish the game." RentedWolf 25551, on the other hand, said that he was disappointed as he was already looking forward to the launch day. Another gamer noted how the notice came late.
