Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez is facing two more homicide charges after being indicted today for a 2012 drive-by shooting.

The Boston District Attorney says Hernandez, who is incarcerated pending trial for a 2013 murder, killed two men after they left a nightclub on July 16, 2012.

According to police, Hernandez and another man, Alexander Bradley, entered Boston's Cure nightclub shortly after the victims, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, around 12:30 a.m. Hernandez and Bradley also left the club shortly after the victims exited, and security footage shows Hernandez' Toyota 4Runner following the men.

An eyewitness told police that the 4Runner pulled up next to Abreu and Furtado's vehicle at a red light, and fired six rounds. A total of five men were inside the targeted car, and three of them were hit. Abreu, the driver, was killed by a shot to the chest, and Furtado, the front passenger, was killed by a head shot.

One of the survivors said he did not know why the shooting occurred.

"They just came up and started firing for no reason at all," he told Fox 25. "We never had any trouble. We were not those kind of people. We were just having fun.

"Things happened so fast. I was trying to defend myself. They were shooting everywhere inside the car, front to back. They just came to kill. That's it.

"I just want to know, what's the reason? What's the point? Why us?"

He also told reporters that he recognized Hernandez as the shooter after seeing him in news reports last summer. The former New England Patriots tight end was arrested on June 26, 2013 for the murder of 27-year old Odin Lloyd.

Law enforcement sources told Yahoo that Hernandez, 24, shot and killed Lloyd on June 17, 2013 in an industrial park because of information Lloyd had regarding the 2012 murders.

Hernandez, who is from Bristol, Connecticut, has been held without bail in the for the first-degree murder charge since his arrest. He will be arraigned on the new murder charges next week.
