3 signs your faith is real

Faith in God takes us to great heights. Pixabay

Faith is very important in our Christian life. Without faith, we wouldn't even become Christians, because it's only by faith that we can be saved through the grace God poured to us in Christ.

What is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 tells us that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." It's a belief that something promised is coming our way.

Because of faith, Abraham left his country to journey into the Promised Land. Because of faith, Joseph gave orders to carry his bones out of Egypt. Because of faith, Joshua fought against many enemies to claim his inheritance.

Faith drives us to do great things. All because we believe in a great God and Father who has given us great promises.

In this article we'll take a look at a few signs that our faith is real and alive. This is written in the hope that everyone who reads it will be strengthened in his faith in God.

Signs of real, living faith

1) Your faith in Christ assures you of God's love

The Bible tells us that God's love for us is displayed fully in Christ. If we believe that, we will be assured that God loves us truly. John 3:16 tells us,

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Jesus Christ is proof of God's amazing love for all of us. And whoever believes in Christ will experience this love in a better way -- for the rest of eternity. Romans 8:38-39 assures us that nothing can take this love away:

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

2) Your faith in God allows you to trust Him

If our faith in God is real, it will allow us to trust Him even if His promises sound humanly impossible.

Abraham displayed this faith when God commanded him to sacrifice his most precious child, Isaac:

"By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, "In Isaac your seed shall be called," concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense." (Hebrews 11:17-19)

If we have faith in God, we will believe His every Word.

3) Your faith in God helps you strive to do His will

Do you have faith in God? Then let that faith be seen in action.

If we have faith in Christ, then it will be seen in our repentance and our trusting in Him alone for salvation, not our works.

If we have faith that God will fulfill all His promises, then we will be emboldened to live a life devoid of fear and full of hope.

If we have faith in God's Word, that it is true, then we will believe and obey it.

If we have faith that the Holy Spirit is in us, then we will strive to put our flesh to death and walk in the Spirit.

Our faith will be seen through our actions.
