Back in August, it was reported that Zayn Malik ended his two-year engagement to Perrie Edwards and allegedly broke things off with her via text message. Since then, Edwards has moved on and has started dating again, while Malik has also been seeing other girls. But now, a new report claims that the former One Direction member has reached out to Edwards and told her that he still loves her.

According to a source from Daily Star Sunday (via Mirror), Malik has started communicating with the Little Mix Singer through text message.

"Zayn has started messaging Perrie again saying he misses and still loves her," said the source.

The source added that although Edwards is trying to be strong and move on, it's "obvious to everyone around her that she's still in love with Zayn" and that seeing him with other women has been painful for her.

Recently, Malik took to Instagram to post a picture of him cuddling with a mystery girl, though it is uncertain if the girl is his new girlfriend. His followers called him out on Twitter and on the photo sharing app for posting the picture, saying that his actions are "disrespectful" to his ex.

The source claims that Edwards's friends fear that she might take him back.

"Her friends are worried if he begs her to take him back she could crumble," said the source.

While Edwards appears to be better now and has reportedly started dating TOWIE star Joey Essex, back in August, the singer broke down in tears during a LiveStream performance days after her split with Malik. Her bandmate, Jesy Nelson, explained to the crowd that it has been a long day and that they had "no sleep," that's why they were emotional.

Meanwhile, the insider said that Malik has not mentioned anything about getting back together and just told Edwards that he misses her.

A spokesman for Malik reportedly declined to comment on the report.
