Is Zayn Malik about to become a reality star? A new report claims that the former One Direction member is in talks to star in a reality show that will be all about his life after splitting with the band.

According to Hollywoodlife, the 22-year old is reportedly in talks with various networks about the venture.

"Zayn is talking to E! and other networks about a reality show that will document his time after being in One Direction and working on his new music," said a source to the website.

The insider added that the show will possibly come out once Malik has released new music.

"It will counter when the music comes out, so it's not going to be anytime soon, but within the year. Don't expect it to come out in 2015!" the source added.

While some might think that Malik's rumored career move seems to be an odd choice, it's not as uncommon as some people may think it is because there have been other former boyband members who starred in reality shows.

Back in 2003, 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey starred in the reality show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" with his then-wife, Jessica Simpson. In 2006, Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter starred on the E! series "House of Carters" with all of his siblings, while New Kids on the Block's Donnie Wahlberg is currently starring in two reality shows—"Wahlburgers" with his siblings, and "Donnie Loves Jenny" with his wife Jenny McCarthy.

If Malik does star on a reality show, fans are expecting that he'll be talking about his One Direction days and the reason why he left the band, as well as his split with fiancée Perrie Edwards. Malik made headlines this year when he left the British boyband while in the middle of their world tour back in March and when he ended his engagement to Edwards in August.

Malik has yet to comment on the report.
