At last, "Yooka-Laylee" is coming to Nintendo Switch on Dec. 14, developer PlayTonic Games revealed.

The much-awaited arrival of the colorful game to the portable console had been expected since "Yooka-Laylee" had arrived first in April this year. "Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch features a shed-load of polish and updates, including single-JoyCon play across all eight multiplayer games, a custom Achievement system, plus the ability to take our collecting duo on the go without the need for extravagant extension leads!" the announcement read.

The long wait is hopefully understandable, as PlayTonic revealed that players could expect more on the Nintendo Switch game, considering the amount of time and rigorous effort they have put into it. Aside from this, PlayTonic Games also explained that fans can well expect that the experience will be taken to a whole new level, especially with the updates coming.

The team also announced that it had been working with Unity and Nintendo in bringing "Yooka-Laylee" to Nintendo Switch. This had led to the improvisation of the game. PlayTonic Games director Gavin Price revealed that the middleware engine that was used to this game took time to learn.

IGN reported that "Yooka-Laylee" was going to be available for a digital download, but there is no word yet on the physical version of the game. In docked mode, the game will run at 900p, while in handheld mode, it will be at a much lower 600p. Players, who initially wanted it on Wii and then chose the copy on Nintendo Switch instead, will get the code on Dec. 14.

Fans, even after the wait, showed support and excitement towards the release of "Yooka-Laylee" on Nintendo Switch. User RaKo said, "Glad to see that it's finally happening." Another user said he was "beyond thrilled."

"Yooka-Laylee" will be available for pre-order starting from Dec. 7 at the Nintendo eShop.
