'WWE 2K18' News: title beset with bugs and glitches

Smackdown has apparently been run down, as fans and critics at the game's launch suggest that "WWE 2K18" is one of the most broken games released this year, particularly in terms of stability and development.

A forum post on NeoGaf shows the extent of the bugs and glitches that have plagued the wrestling game since its release on Oct. 13. User Hasney in the forums detailed that the entire mode of the game is messy beyond belief, and many of the mistakes are laughable.

The bugs and glitches appear mostly in the game's career mode, and several gifs were posted as evidence to show the animation and graphical anomalies in action. In one of the gifs, a large chest with a WWE logo on it gets stuck on a wrestler's foot. The unlucky wrestler then flails about as it gets thrashed by another player. In another gif, one wrestler looks as if he's about to perform a powerbomb on his opponent, only to have his victim to fall straight down underneath the floor, highlighting the game's inaccurate physics.

The Smackdown mode for the game was also allegedly unplayable according to the forum post, while the other modes, like Raw, and Wrestlemania were experiencing similar problems. Apparently, only one side quest for the game also works properly, severely limiting the fun factor that the game promised to offer its players.

This, plus other player reports of poor quality for the wrestling game has led website Critical Hit to speculate that "WWE 2K18" may be one of the most broken games to date. At the time of writing, there have been no patches implemented to fix the game's numerous oversights.

Players who have been wanting to download the game or buy a physical copy may want to take the bug and glitch reports with a grain of salt, as it may not be representative of the whole player base experience. Still, the game's size is a staggering 50 gigabytes (GB) of data, a lot of bandwidth for a game of uncertain quality. Fans may want to wait for a day one update or patch first before committing.

"WWE 2K18" was released on the aforementioned date of Oct. 13 and is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows.
