Visitors at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. were treated to a spontaneous spectacle last week when one of them suddenly belted out an incredible a capella rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Many of the visitors were visibly moved as they gave G. Star Swain a warm applause, expressing their admiration after she finished singing the U.S. national anthem just in time for the July Fourth Independence Day celebration. She was actually hesitant to sing the patriotic hymn but got coaxed by her friends.

But that was not the best part yet of the recent unscripted D.C. event. Swain's friends recorded the video and posted it on YouTube, where it got more than 660,000 views.

Swain became an instant national sensation with major television networks such as CNN and ABC News featuring her amazing rendition of the national anthem and her life's story.

CBN News got hold of Swain and interviewed her last Thursday. CBN News' Efrem Graham asked her what made her sing in such a way that captivated the hearts of many of her fellow Americans. She said she actually had nothing to do with the song and that all credit is due to the "Holy Spirit."

"It didn't matter what the song was but it was the spirit behind the song. And we know that that was the Holy Spirit – I had nothing to do with that," she said.

Swain said she is a leader of the praise and worship team in her church in Tallahassee, Florida. She is also an assistant principal at a local school.

She said singing is something that is at the heart of who she is. "This is not something new for me – this has been a dream and a passion of mine for a long time," Swain said.

"It's the Holy Spirit that will always make the difference. Your gift is a gift it can sound as beautiful as it wants to but if there is no anointing – no yokes will be destroyed," she added.
