'True Detective' season 3 to be set in snowy location?

The first season of "True Detective" was an unequivocal success, having been nominated for numerous awards for acting, cinematography, writing and direction and won many of them, but season 2 was thought to be not as strong as the previous one. It earned mixed reviews after it baffled viewers with its multiple storylines.

Despite its season 2 performance, the show remains a game changer in the television industry. Aside from giving viewers a cinema-like experience with every episode, the show is written entirely by one writer — Nic Pizzolatto. During the first season, all of the episodes were directed by one person, Cary Fukunaga, but after his exit, the next season was divided among seven directors across all eight episodes. This could explain why the show's first season had a consistent feel all throughout while season 2's varied plots barely came together to form a cohesive story.

Executive producer Richard Brown had an explanation for the HBO show's success during its first season.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Brown said, "In season one, it was a shared vision, between Nic and Cary — bringing the best out of each other and it certainly worked very well."

For season 3, it is unknown if "True Detective" will return to its formula of having a single director on board to helm all episodes, but rumors and speculations have cropped up regarding the new season, which shows promise of a fresh take on the series.

Season 3 is speculated to take place in a brand new location, somewhere snowy this time, according to Moviepilot. Season 1 was set in Louisiana, while the second season was set in California.

As for the cast, many names have been thrown into the hat to make up a dream ensemble. While many actors have expressed an interest in the show, TrueDetectiveRumors recently made up a dream list, which named Jeremy Renner ("Avengers"), David Thewlis ("Harry Potter"), and Emily Blunt as the leads. Meanwhile, a fanmade trailer submitted to the website suggested that James Franco, Cara Delevingne, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ryan Gosling should be featured in the new season.
