'Total War: Warhammer 2' news: Hotfix for 'Mortal Empires' puts order to Chaos invasions

The End Times will have to wait in "Total War: Warhammer 2's" "Mortal Empires" downloadable content (DLC), as the new hotfix update for the game and its DLC have been released and are designed to curb the severity of Chaos invasions.

Creative Assembly, the developer, has announced on Thursday, Nov. 9, that the "Mortal Empires" hotfix patch has left the open beta phase and is now available for all players. The primary fix, which the update incorporates, is the rework or change in how the Chaos faction invades the game world. The domain threshold needed for Chaos to start their onslaught has been revised for all factions. This will make Chaos invasions less likely to happen early on during a campaign.

Prior to the hotfix, Chaos will bring doom only for the player and will even exclusively target the player's faction, ignoring the other factions it is also supposed to be at war with. The developers have also fixed this, making the apocalyptic armies at war with all other factions, except the Beastmen, once their invasion begins. This aims to bring balance and fairness to the arrival of Chaos in-game, as players no longer have to single-handedly shoulder the burden of surviving the bloodthirsty faction and can use other neutral factions to buy time.

Other bug fixes include a fix for the Chaos Rising event during the Beastmen campaigns, Chinese language updates, Character porthole lighting issue fixes, Campaign loading crash fix, certain game saves being inaccessible for loading, a front-end memory leak, and more user-interface (UI) and optimization improvements. All of these, though, pale in comparison to the problems which the Chaos invasions brought prior, as the unbalanced faction has caused frustrating gameplay issues for a lot of gamers.

With this, the developers hope that their player base will be able to fully enjoy the "Mortal Empires," which imports the races from the first "Total War: Warhammer" back in 2016 to the sequel, which was released on September. These races and factions include the Chaos, Wood Elves, Humans (The Empire and Bretonnia), Dwarfs, Beastmen, Vampire Counts, Greenskins (Orcs and Goblins), and the Norsca.

The hotfix is now available for "Total War: Warhammer 2" owners who have the "Mortal Empires" DLC.
