More secrets about Lucy Preston's (Abigail Spencer) family are expected to be revealed in "Timeless" season 2, if NBC greenlights the show's second season order.

During the first season finale of the sci-fi time-traveling drama series, the history professor learned that her grandfather used to be a secret gay man. She also found out that her mother Carolyn Preston (Susanna Thompson) had been an agent of the Rittenhouse for a long time, and was told that Henry Wallace is not her biological father since another Rittenhouse agent, Benjamin Cahill (John Getz), happens to be her real father.

The cast of the series talked about the show during their panel appearance at the AwardsLine screening series at the Landmark Theaters. In the event, Spencer talked about her opinion regarding the plot of the show especially about her character Lucy's journey.

"That's what's so interesting about the show, is all of these storylines, and all of the historical components are really reflections, and a mirror to the characters finding out more about themselves," Spencer stated in an interview with Deadline. "It's really just a journey for each of these human beings to find out what they're made of, and what they're not made of — their mettle, and their foibles, and also kind of the chance to see their heroicism [sic], which has been a big journey for Lucy."

A separate report from the same publication cites the statements from series co-creator and executive producer Shawn Ryan, who claims that the theme of the possible season 2 is still too early to tell.

Ryan also reveals that Lucy's mother will play a very important role in season 2, but he cannot confirm if Lucy and Carolyn will have a mother-and-daughter relationship in the upcoming season.

NBC is expected to make an announcement regarding the second season of "Timeless" in the coming days.
