In the next episode of "This Is Us," Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz) thinks of buying a dog for her fiance Toby Damon (Chris Sullivan).

The trailer and promotional photos for the upcoming installment, which is titled "That'll Be the Day," were released just recently, and they show Kate thinking of buying a pet dog for Damon to keep him company for the meantime, as they try to get pregnant with another baby.

As fans know, Kate suffered a miscarriage previously which devastated her. However, now it appears that she has gotten over it and wants to try getting pregnant again. She thinks that getting a dog will keep Damon busy and give him an outlet to share his love and affection to, apparently. Lena Waithe will play the animal shelter worker who advises Kate on what kind of dog to buy.

Meanwhile, it seems that Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) untimely demise may be at hand in the coming episode. Prior to that, it was teased that Jack may perish because he and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) forgot to buy the batteries for the smoke detector. It was revealed earlier in the season that Jack would die from a house fire. It is speculated that a fire may happen in the new installment, which would claim Jack's life because of the non-functioning smoke detector.

In a recent interview with EW, the show's executive producer Issac Aptaker hinted, "Without giving away exactly what episode we're going to see the death, we are very close. We're not pulling any punches. This isn't like, 'Oh, they're going to get batteries next week,' and everyone will be on Twitter cursing us. [Laughs.] You are watching the events that lead to this man's untimely death."

"This is Us" season 2 episode 13 will hit the airwaves on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
