'The Walking Dead' spoilers, plot news: Poster calls for Rick Grimes' death

Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)face off on "The Walking Dead" Facebook/The Walking Dead

After eight seasons of agonizing survival, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) may finally join the walking dead, as the latest poster for "The Walking Dead" hints at the character's death.

The said poster featured a monochrome pose of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) with a "Kill Rick" slogan painted on his face, possibly indicating what awaits the character. It can be recalled that Negan's gang suffered a crippling blow at their own turf that probably made him more vengeful than usual, hence the actions he will be taking toward Rick, the Kiand the Widow might get a lot more violent and desperate.

However, it also seems that Rick is out to do the same, as the show's artists also released an international version of the promotional poster with Rick in it instead and with the slogan "Kill Negan." So it seems the two are headed for a climactic showdown in which only one of them will come out alive, or perhaps both will die since Negan is the antagonist.

Meanwhile, actor Lincoln has seemingly confirmed that his character will meet its demise as the aftermath of the battle with Negan. Since apart from the series not being shy with how it kills off its main characters, Lincoln himself also let some information slip regarding the fate of Rick.

"[I think] there deserves to be an endpoint for the series. There needs to be an end game and that is something that is definitely being talked about. I can't get into all of that, but all of that will be answered. If I was watching it I would want some answers, something, and if that means the demise of a central character or a principal character, then I'm willing to take the medicine," said Lincoln during an interview. While he did not specifically say that it will be his character, it seems he has already accepted the fact that he might become expendable come to the season finale.

It remains to be seen when Rick will die in "The Walking Dead" so fans are advised to stay tuned to AMC and Lincoln.
