Negan's character will be fleshed out even more in "The Walking Dead" season 8.

AMC's zombie series is planning to explore the main villain's past this season. So far, the past two episodes have given more focus on the battle between the combined strength of the communities against Negan and the Saviors.

During a panel at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta on Oct. 29, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays the bat-wielding Negan, disclosed that the "The Walking Dead" will touch on Negan's history as series moves forward.

"There is a lot of Negan's backstory out there. We haven't filmed any of that, but there are conversations with a few characters where we'll find out a little more about him," he said.

The actor added that the show will have quieter moments and one-on-one interactions where Negan's history will be revealed. He also said that even if the audience hates Negan, they will begin to understand how he became the villain that he is and what motivates his actions.

Scenes that show Negan's past will surely help the fans who are not familiar with the source material with regard to getting to know this arc's nefarious character and it will hopefully help the audience understand him better. Another interesting thing to note is if Negan's backstory is touched on, fans might see who will play his wife Lucille.

Aside from Negan's backstory, there's also a question of whether he'll survive the onslaught of the communities against his group, given that the show's executive producer Scott M. Gimple is known to mix up certain key events from the comics and put it in TV to blindside some of the most hard-core fans.

Regardless, "The Walking Dead" remains to be one of the most popular shows on the television and all the hinted storylines that this season will explore might move past the story arc from the comics from which it was adapted from.

"The Walking Dead" airs every Sunday, 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
