AMC's "The Walking Dead" seemed to be following a downward trajectory, as its ratings had dropped further for season 8's third episode, titled "Monsters" and aired last Sunday, Nov. 5.

The "The Walking Dead" showrunners will need to step up their game, especially now that the show has been going downhill since the sloppy season 8 premiere numbers. Fewer and fewer people are watching the show with every new episode.

The third episode of season 8 of the zombie-themed series "The Walking Dead" garnered a 3.8 rating, a decline from "The Damned" that aired on Oct. 29, which had a 4.0 rating. Episode 3 got 8.5 million viewers as opposed to episode 2's 8.9 million viewers aged 18-49.

In comparison, Season 7's premiere garnered a whopping 8.4 rating in contradiction with season 8's premiere, the 100th episode, which earned a mere 5.0 rating. "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere saw the death of two fan-favorites, Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), which could be one of the reasons for the declining interest of people in the show.

As seen in the recent episode's viewership numbers, the downward trend continues, even with fans seeing the comeback of an earlier season cast member Morales (Juan Pareja). Morales' comeback could have captured attention, but it clearly was not enough to draw viewers to "The Walking Dead."

Although the numbers are obviously plunging, "The Walking Dead" seems to still be the luckiest cable show every Sunday, with the latest episode still topping the list of most watched shows. "Talking Dead" immediately follows the series with 3.1 million viewers and a 1.3 rating.

The third episode of season 8 of the post-apocalyptic series saw Eric (Jordan Woods-Robinson) turned into a walker. Aaron (Ross Marquand) was not able to say his farewell to his boyfriend, who was shot in the firefight that transpired between Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) team and the Saviors.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 airs every Sunday, at 9 p.m EST on AMC.
