In the next episode of "The Orville," Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) and ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrienne Palicki) meet a familiar face that causes tension on the vessel.

The trailer for the upcoming installment titled "Cupid's Dagger" was just released recently and showed Mercer and Grayson at the landing bay waiting for their blue-skinned visitor to come aboard. "Oh my god," Mercer says as he sees and recognizes the approaching individual. It is strongly hinted that the person coming on board is the one Grayson was caught cheating with by Mercer. Apparently, Mercer stumbled upon them in bed together over a year ago which prompted him to leave the apartment and file for a divorce. Mercer seeing the home wrecker on the ship immediately brings back bad memories which he must try to put aside for the sake of the mission. He reluctantly shakes the hand of the blue-skinned being as everyone feels the awkward tension.

Later, Mercer tells his pilot Gordon Malloy in his office, "How is this happening?" He is clearly frustrated because he has to mediate between two warring cultures to come to a peace treaty while dealing with his troubled marital past. Moreover, the blue visitor appears to be connected to the negotiations of the two factions. Therefore, Mercer has to interact with the person who gave him a tragic experience in the past.

In the last episode, Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald), Isaac (Mark Jackson), and Finn's two sons crash-landed on a distant moon and were in danger of the hostile inhabitants. Nevertheless, the Orville was able to hear their distress call and came to their rescue just in time. Finn and her group returned to the vessel safely.

The next episode of "The Orville" will air on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
