There's no escape for the wicked in the jail cells of "The Escapists 2," as its new downloadable content (DLC), "Wicked Ward" has been released in preparation for Halloween.

Developer and publisher Team17 Digital Ltd. have finally released "Wicked Ward," which is also the second DLC for the game sequel since its launch back in August. A launch trailer marking the arrival of the DLC has also been uploaded to YouTube and shows the Halloween-themed jail setting, complete with inmates making Jack-O-Lanterns out of pumpkins instead of the usual potato peeling commonly seen in prisons.

In addition to the spooky jail theme, ghosts will also be included. The specters will be patrolling the prison grounds along with the guards. Additionally, monsters are also present in the game, with some of them being featured as green zombies. A surprise fiend also came in the form of Frankenstein's monster in one of the experimental labs in the prison.

All in all, the DLC will contain a new horror-themed prison map to escape from, Halloween themed character customizations, new outfits, and new items, and craftable recipes. Still, despite the new prison amusements, the goal of the players in the game is to escape the prison.

"The Escapists 2" is a direct sequel to "The Escapists" and expands on its predecessor's formula. Both games still utilize the 16-bit graphic and art style, and ironically allows players a lot of freedom in terms of activities they can perform in a prison game world. Players will be able to craft items, steal valuables in the prison, brawl with other inmates, and most importantly, escape, staying true to its namesake.

The sequel also comes with the option to play with friends and features online multiplayer, meaning players will no longer have to shoulder the burden of attaining freedom by themselves.

"The Escapists 2: Wicked Ward" is out now and is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
