A cult film will get its well-deserved reboot. "The Crow," which has gained a cult-status following, will reportedly undergo a reboot and will be called "The Crow Reborn." It will start to shoot in the early part of next year.

James O'Barr, who created the comic book series, talked to ScreenGeek and confirmed that the movie will start their pre-production shoot in February 2018. The creator also revealed that Corin Hardy will direct the film.

As for his own involvement in the project, O'Barr said, "I'm involved in every aspect of the film and working closely with the director."

The 1994 film adaptation of "The Crow" has built a steady following over the years, with different directors trying to get a reboot film off the ground. Recently, however, Hardy and actor Jason Momoa have had a tenuous attachment to the film due to some legal matters.

A recent social media post teased that the team of the director and actor could be gaining some ground when it comes to greenlighting the film with Sony Pictures picking up "The Crow Reborn."

It's interesting to note that February is just a couple of months away and Momoa's involvement with the project is still up in the air because no one has confirmed anything yet.

Regardless of which actor will join the movie, O'Barr's heavy involvement in "The Crow Reborn" could only mean that the film will follow in the footsteps of the first version with a darker tone and probably an R-rating. This won't be surprising news since Sony is also reportedly pushing for a Venom film with the same kind of tone and rating.

Fans of the movie's first version will be dubious of any kind of reboot, given that the sequels were poorly received. Hopefully, O'Barr's involvement will change their minds.
