'The Blacklist' season 3 spoilers: A bounty is placed on Liz's head in episode 5

Last week on "The Blacklist," Paul Ruben reprised his role as Mr. Vargas in the episode titled "The Djinn," where Red (James Spader) enlisted a task force to locate the Djinn, a mysterious woman who fulfills revenge fantasies.

Believing that finding the Djinn would lead them to the Cabal, Red and Liz (Megan Boone) set out to find her, and when Red got hold of a journal that would prove that Liz is innocent, he surrendered the journal to Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) but without the page containing the names of the Cabal members that he's after. Liz also got in touch with Tom (Ryan Eggold) and she told him to stop helping her, but Tom wasn't having it and told her that he has plans to save her.

In this week's episode titled "Arioch Cain," Liz will be in even more danger when a bounty is placed on her head. A few shady characters will be out to get her, and Red will be doing all he can to protect her.

Speaking to TVLine about the episode, show creator Jon Bokenkamp said that this week will see a "really high-stakes, super-intense" hour.

"[Liz's] criminal identity is catching up with her, and she ends up the target of other criminals," said Bokenkamp. "There's a bounty on her head, and that is something completely new for all of us."

The show creator also gave a preview for the remaining episodes before the midseason finale. The Nov. 5 episode titled "Sir Crispin Crandall" will see Liz and Red working with his fugitive lawyer, Marvin Gerard, as they track down a very unusual item hidden in a safe deposit box.

The next episode titled "Zal Bin Hassan," which will air on Nov. 12 will be a personal one for Samar. Bokenkamp said that not only will Samar be "blindsided by a truth from her past," but some of her connections to Red will be found out. Meanwhile, the midseason finale, "Kings of the Highway," will feature the manhunt for Liz and Red at its peak.

"Everything comes to a really unexpected head," said Bokenkamp. The episode will air on Nov. 19.

"The Blacklist" airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
