Switchfoot Raises Bar with New Album

|PIC1|Switchfoot, a groundbreaking rock band renowned for their meaningful songs are raising the bar with their upcoming new album Oh! Gravity.

The new project will be released on 26 December.

According to sources, there are plenty of new details floating around now through cyberspace about Switchfoot's next studio album entitled Oh! Gravity. The band has updated its MySpace page and website with images, artwork, and audio sneak previewing the disc.

Fans can hear the album's first singles, "Oh! Gravity" and "Dirty Second Hands" at MySpace and purchase the latter cut via download at all major digital service providers.

Lead singer Jon Foreman says, "We tried to put all pressures and expectations aside and focus on the music. We wanted to make a record that was honest. A record that didn't trip on itself. A record that represented everything that we first fell in love with about music. We tried to forget about theory and pitch and timing and focus on feeling. As a result, I think that Oh! Gravity is the most honest thing we've ever done. I am so proud of these tunes and hope that they resonate with you like they do for us."

Produced by Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones), all songs from Oh! Gravity were written by frontman Jon Foreman.

The band recently embarked on a tour in Bakersfield, California, which will wrap up 22 November in Las Vegas.

From 2003 to 2005, Switchfoot performed over 400 shows from the recorded Nothing is Sound while on tour, and used their live performances to work on the new material before committing it to disc.

In 2004, Switchfoot's frontman Jon Foreman claimed to be "Christian by faith, not by genre".

"We've always been very open and honest about where the songs are coming from. For us, these songs are for everyone. Calling us 'Christian rock' tends to be a box that closes some people out and excludes them. And that's not what we're trying to do. Music has always opened my mind - and that's what we want."
